- On trains participating in the dynamic pricing program, you may carry small pets (pet companions), dogs, and birds.
- When you board a train, you will need a carriage document, which may be obtained at a booking office, and pet health certificates*. The owner is responsible for the free of charge carriage of small pets, dogs, and birds under the laws of the Russian Federation. Blind passengers may carry their guide dogs free of charge on carriages of all categories.
- It is not mandatory to issue a carriage document for your pet when you buy a ticket for yourself – it may be done from the moment of your ticket purchase to the very departure of train. You may also return it at a specialized booking office before train's departure. After train's departure, the document may not be returned.
- Small pets, dogs (except large ones and guides) and birds are carried in crates, baskets, or containers which are placed in the carry-on space. The owners must look after their pets and provide compliance with the sanitation and hygiene standards.
- Wild animals may not be transported in the carry-on space on trains and carriages of all categories.
Following animals are considered small pets (pet companions):- dogs,
- cats,
- birds (mallard, pheasant, pigeon, parrot, brambling, weaver and bunting, sparrowhawk and goshawk);
- small rodents (squirrel, gray rat, cavy, mouse, Djungarian and Syrian hamsters, gerbil, chinchilla, rabbit);
- small nonvenomous amphibia (tree frog, clawed frog, or axolotl); aquarium fishes and mollusks; small nonvenomous reptiles (chameleon, racer, pond slider, or lizzard);
- arthropods (except species (subspecies) included in the Red List of different countries).
*Depending on a species: animal health certificates #1, 2, 3; animal health certificates #4; animal health certificates #6.1, 6.2, 6.3. The certificates are valid from 5 days after their issuance to the day of departure (Russia and the CIS).
Large dogs carriage regulations- On long-haul trains, large dogs must be muzzled and on lead; they are carried in a separate compartment, except on carriages with enhanced comfort, under the supervision of their owners on condition of full payment for all the seats in compartment without additional fee for their carriage; the number of dogs and their owners must not exceed the number of seats in compartment.
- On commuter trains, large dogs must be muzzled and on lead.
- In a commuter train vestibule (no more than 2 dogs per second) – under supervision of their owners; carriage fee is charged.
- On Sapsan trains, large dogs may not be carried.
